The SCP is a program of UN-Habitat and UNEP to support cities in the developing world in confronting and addressing urban development problems in a sustainable manner. An important aspect of sustainable urban development is transport. The sustainable urban mobility component (SUM) addresses this aspect.

Subject of the SUM newsletter

  • Document what's going on in the SUM component,
  • Disseminate experience, lessons learned, examples and ideas about how developing cities can provide good accessibility and mobility to their inhabitants in a manner that is
  • o Affordable to all of them,
o Supports the city economy, and
o Does not create un-liveable environmental conditions.
The focus is on low-cost mobility i.e. mobility with low financial, economic, environmental and social costs.
